JEE (Main) – Paper 2

Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) is conducted to assess the aptitude of candidates for admissions to premier higher education institutions. To secure admission to Undergraduate Architecture Programs at NITs, SPA & other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions (CFTI), candidate needs to qualify the JEE-Mains B.Arch. Paper.

There is no necessity to apply separately to each NIT. The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) and the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), constituted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, will conduct and manage the process of admittance to the various NITs through centralized online counseling procedure.

The examination is conducted in English, Hindi and Gujarati languages.

MCQs: Multiple Choice Questions

Method to determine the merit:
Conversion of raw score in Aptitude Test, Mathematics, Drawing Test and Total into NTA Scores. Complete merit shall be prepared by integrating NTA Scores of all shifts of all days.

The Chronological order to resolve a tie between candidates obtaining equal Total NTA scores in B.Arch.:
1. NTA score in Mathematics
2. NTA score in Aptitude Test
3. NTA score in Drawing Test
4. Candidates with less proportion of negative responses
5. Candidates older in age

Aptitude Test Syllabus
Awareness of buildings, persons, materials, places, objects, & texture linked to Architecture and built environment. Visualization of different sides of 3D objects from 2D drawings. Analytical reasoning & mental ability to solve questions based on visual, numerical and verbal topics.

Drawing Test Syllabus
Three dimensional – perception: Understanding of scale & proportions of objects, building forms and elements along with appreciation of colour, texture, harmony and contrast. Transformation of forms both 2D and 3D union, subtraction, rotation, development of surfaces and volumes. Drawing of plan, elevations and 3D views of objects. Using given shapes and forms to create 2D & 3D compositions.
Memory drawing: Sketching of scenes and activities from memory of urbanscape, landscape & rural life. For instance public space, market, festivals, street scenes, monuments, riverfronts, jungles etc.

Age Limit:
The candidates who have passed class 12th / equivalent examination in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020 irrespective of their age can appear in JEE (Main) examination – 2020

Educational Qualification:

● The applicant should have Passed 10+2 examination with minimum 50% aggregate marks in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics and also at least 50% marks in aggregate of 10+2 level examination or passed 10+3 Diploma exam with Mathematics as a compulsory subject with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
● The candidate should have secured at least 75% (for GEN or OBC-NCL) or minimum 65 % ( for SC,ST or PWD ) of aggregate marks in 12th or equivalent of the respective stream & board, or be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12th/ qualifying examination conducted by the respective board.

The JEE (Main)-2020 is conducted twice before admissions as per the new amendments. The candidate’s best of the two NTA scores will be taken into consideration for preparation of Merit List/ Ranking.

The first JEE (Main) – 2020 was held in January 2020 whereas the second will be held in April, 2020.
